It was a very different look when exhibitors stepped into the Cow Palace at the MD State Fair this year. You would notice that the stands were empty from public spectators, there was no ferris wheel spinning down the midway, or no long line at the dairy bar to get a delicious scoop of ice cream. But as an attempt to give some normalcy to the year 2020, the show must go on! All of the exhibitors did their part following safety guidelines by wearing face masks around the ring, and the show went off without a hitch on Labor Day Monday, Sept. 7.
The Holstein open and junior show was judged by Pat Lundy of New York. It was an outstanding day for the crew of Glamourview of Walkersville, MD as they took home every champion ribbon; grand & reserve grand champion as well as junior & reserve junior champion
The first-place futurity cow, Oakland View Legacy-Red-ET, topped the junior show for Natalie Youse taking home grand champion honors. Reserve grand champion of the junior show was the 1st place sr. 3yr old, Lehigh View Byway B-7, shown by Bodey Griffin of Lehigh View Farm in Union Bridge, MD. Junior champion of the junior show was Jordyn Griffin’s 1st place spring yearling, Lehigh View Artist Abbie. And reserve junior champion was the 3rd place winter calf of Natalie Youse, Oakland-View Warrior 8157.
