The Maryland Holstein Association announces the successful conclusion of the “Maryland State Sale: A Virtual Experience,” held on July 10, 2023, at 6:30 pm. Managed by MD Hillbrook, this exciting event took place at Flood Zone Brewery in Union Bridge, MD. The sale achieved remarkable results, showcasing the strength and resilience of the Maryland dairy industry.
With an impressive total of 59 lots presented, the Maryland State Sale garnered significant attention from livestock enthusiasts and breeders alike. The event’s remarkable achievements include a sale average of $3,116 and a total sale gross of $179,640, a testament to the high-quality offerings and competitive bidding witnessed throughout the virtual auction.
Topping the charts as the highest seller was Lot 7: IVF Session from Ladys-Manor FB Opulance-ET,” presented by My Ladys Manor and purchased by Duane & Marilyn Hershey for a noteworthy $20,000. This standout purchase further emphasizes the prestigious bloodlines and superior genetics showcased at the Maryland State Sale.
Lot 1: First Choice Female from Arbaughs Flowing Spring went for $7,500. Ryan Engstrand will take home his selection from one of the 3 pregnancies due Sept 2023 out of Willowhaven Goldwyn Bliss-ET *RC bred to Luck-E Awesome-Red.
Also commanding significant interest, Lot 3: First Choice Female from four pregnancies due Dec 2023 out of Peace & Plenty Link Rocky-EX95, a stand out dam from the Peace & Plenty Farms herd, drew in a final bid of $6,800 from buyer Matt Pavelski.
Rounding out the top 4 highest sales is Lot 5: First Choice Female of 3 heifers born Sept 2022 sired by AOT Homecoming-ET out of S-S-I Doc Have Not 8783-ET EX-92 from Ernest Kueffner brought a price of $6,000, purchased by Matt Hoff of Coldsprings Farm.
