  • January 10th-MDIA Scholarships
  • January 15th – Scholarships due to Kelly Zepp or Dee Shafer
  • January 15th – Dairy Shrine scholarship due
  • January 15th – Production Awards postmarked and sent to Kelly Zepp (or may be sent with your DJM book)
  • January 22nd – Deadline for DJM books to be turned  in
  • February 9th –Maryland 4-H Dairy Skillathon Contest
  • February 22nd – Maryland Dairy Convention – Frederick, MD
  • February 25th – Deadline to sign up for Junior Jamboree
  • March 2nd– Junior Jamboree 10am at Carroll County Ext. Office
  • April 20th – Spring Show – Howard County Fairgrounds

2018 Junior Highlights

National Holstein Convention

Congratulations to the following Juniors who represented Maryland at the National Holstein Convention in Michigan this past June.  Ryan Allen placed 2nd in Intermediate Jeopardy, Bodey Griffin and Jill Allen also competed in Jeopardy. Jordyn Griffin competed in Jeopardy and speech, and Atley Shafer participated in the speech contest.  Congrats to all of our Maryland Juniors who represented us well!

National Junior Shows

We want to send our congratulations to the following juniors for their outstanding showing at our National Junior Holstein shows.

Judging Teams Putting MARYLAND on the Map

Dairy Judging  Congratulations to our Madison dairy judging team who was 3rd  overall at World Dairy Expo.  The Madison Team consisted of Ryan Allen, Tiffany Green, Dylan Hill and Chad Patterson.  They will be traveling to Europe this summer to judge and tour oversees-congrats!!  The Louisville team consisting of Jill Allen, Atley Miller, Jayci Mitchell, and Jillian Sutton  placed 5th overall! 

 Dairy Bowl The Maryland Dairy Bowl team, which competed in Louisville, KY consisted of Marina Karides, Brooke Knauss and Shannon McGabe.

Congrats to all team members on a job well done!


2019 MD Holstein Convention

This year the state Holstein convention awards will be held in conjunction with the Maryland Dairy Shrine banquet on Friday, February 22nd in Frederick, MD.  More details to come-please check Farmshine, newsletters and social media for details.

2019 MD Spring Show

Please note that the Spring show will be held on Sat. April 20th at the Howard County Fairgrounds.

2019 National Convention

This year’s national Holstein Convention will be held June 24-June 27 in Appleton, Wisconsin.  We will be sending Dairy Bowl, Dairy Jeopardy and Speech contestants.  Selection will be made at our Jamboree on Sat., March 2nd at the Carroll County 4-H office.

Animal Ownership Dates – All animals must be owned by July 1st

Maryland Show Rules

            We encourage every junior to show his/her own animal.  In situations that a substitute leadsman is needed, the substitute must be the same age or younger as the exhibitor and must have received approval before the show with a legitimate excuse approved by the show chairman. 

Maryland Leasing Rules

For those of you involved with the MD leasing program and interested in competing on the National Level, please consult the following National Holstein website and take notice of any rules to be eligible.  One thing to note is the difference of leasing dates compared to MD.  The national ownership date for leasing is January 1st of the project year.  See the following for more info: www.holsteinusa.com ->juniors->Jr. national shows->Jr. leasing program
